The company aims to reach approximately 5 million tons of road transport annually in the short term, and Çebi Group, which founded Martaş, the first international private sector port of Thrace, in the Marmara Ereğlis in 1993, plans to make additional port facilities. The port facilities on the coast of the Sea of Marmara have an annual load-unloading capacity of 3.5 million tons. The port, located in the central region of Thrace, has the most modern equipment that can handle bulk cargo and mixed cargo, and they will also make new investments in energy, said Tayfun Çebi, CEO of the Çebi Group, adding that they are preparing to build a new power plant. Tayfun Çebi, who has been working as a manager at Kaptan Demir Çelik Companies Group for 25 years, was born in Trabzon in 1960, graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Economics, we asked Tayfun Çebi, CEO of Çebi Group, about the goals of the group and the new investments they will make.
Can you tell us a little about your Group of Economists? How many companies do you have and what are their sizes?
Tayfun Çebi: Yaşar Kaplan Çebi is a group of companies established in 1964 in Karabük to produce iron and steel. It consists of 8 companies led by Captain Demir Çelik.

Çebi: Yes, Çebi Transportation, which belongs to our group, provides a strong ground transportation service to our group with its fleet of 100 vehicles. our company, which loads port and factory transportations with an annual Decommissioning tonnage of about 3 million tons, provides transportation and logistics support in a fast and economical service, giving our group competitiveness. The company, whose main activity is to carry out road transportation between our port and factories Dec and economically, aims to transport about 5 million tons of road transportation annually.
You also have activities in shipping. Can you tell us about them?
Çebi: Çebi Denizcilik operates in the maritime sector as a shipowner with 3 ships of its own. The company is responsible for the total weight of a ship with a cargo of 200 thousand dwt {the ship’s fuel crew, water, cargo, etc. it also operates 8 ships with a total capacity of (weight measurement, found by subtracting the empty weight). Handymax, which plans to purchase 50 thousand dwt ships in the near future, also aims to deliver our group’s iron and steel cargoes to the world Sundays in the most economical way. Nur Shipping carries out lot-based export transportation of 3 million metric tons to the USA, the Far East, the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf and Northern Europe between Dec thousand and 50 thousand metric tons annually by the Kaptan Demir Çelik Group and 3rd parties. Nur Shipping provides agency services to shipowners and tenants in the Turkish straits and important ports of Turkey.
Can you provide information about Captain Demir Çelik’s Tekirdağ facilities?
Çebi: Kaplan Demir Çelik started its operations in Karabük in 1964. Today it is an integrated giant enterprise with a large export power with a steel-house, rolling mills, oxygen plant, port facilities and a quality control laboratory that oversees every stage of production. With nearly 500 thousand employees, it has an annual turnover of $ 767 million in sales from production. Our steel mill facilities, which started operating in 2002 in Marmara Ereğli, have an annual production capacity of 1 million 200 thousand tons of billets installed on a total area of 476 thousand square meters, 66 thousand square meters of which are closed, have an annual production capacity of 200 thousand tons. January consists of arc January, crucible furnace and continuous casting machine as the main equipments. with our dust collection facility with a capacity of 1 million 500 thousand cubic meters, dust and particles are collected and pelletized without spreading to the atmosphere. This is how environmental pollution is prevented.
Our auxiliary facilities include water purification, automatic ferroalloy feeding unit, 380 kV charging plant, oxygen plant and two scrap Decanters of 50 thousand tons each. at the beginning of 2006, our rolling mills producing flat and ribbed construction rods with an annual capacity of one thousand tons were put into operation.
You have established Thrace’s first international private sector port How does the port have any importance for the region?
Çebi: By establishing the first private port of Thrace in the Marmara Ereğli in 1993, we saved the region’s industrialists from dependence on the single and poorly equipped Port of Tekirdağ. Our port facilities on the coast of the sea of Marmara have an annual loading and unloading capacity of 3 and a half million tons and serve companies with our Group, as well as third parties. In our port located in the center of Thrace, all the services required by modern port management are fully performed, including general warehouse management, and our port has the most modern equipment that can handle bulk cargo and mixed cargo. Its proximity to highways and industrial areas also offers attractive opportunities in terms of transportation.
What advantages are offered to investors in Tekirdağ?
Çebi: Tekirdağ’s economy is growing thanks to both industry and agriculture and tourism. Today, giant industrial plants are operating in the region throughout Turkey. The most important advantages are that they are located very close to Europe and Istanbul.
The facilities here have advantages such as natural-gas, port, electricity and infrastructure, and significant investments will be made in the region in the coming years. Our investments will continue in Tekirdağ with a new 2X135 megawatt power plant, a new steel plant with an annual capacity of 2 million tons and additional port facilities.

The first international private sector port of Thrace, Martaş, was established in 1993 in Marmara Ereğlisi-Tekirdağ.
The port on the coast of Marmara has an annual loading and unloading capacity of 3.5 million tons from the facility. The port provides services to third parties, as well as companies belonging to the group. The port, located in the central region of Thrace, has 5 berths with a maximum depth of 25 meters and a width of 25 meters, where ships up to 100 thousand dvt can dock. At the same time, the port, which also serves NATO and military ships, has 2 tugboats and 1 mooring beta with a capacity of 57 bolards, which allows ships to safely dock and take off.
